Cars 2 (2011)

>> Thursday, July 7, 2011

Plot:
Star race car Lightning McQueen and his pal Mater head overseas to compete in the World Grand Prix race. But the road to the championship becomes rocky as Mater gets caught up in an intriguing adventure of his own: international espionage.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1216475/

My Comment:
My comment would be, it's more stylish, more sophisticated but not impressive. The plot of this movie is likely to be found in any movies. Friendship, "everything will be alright if you're being you"... well, I hoped that the action scenes would bring "the ordinary" out, but actually it is not. This movie is good for kids, for adult... a bit laughable but just an okay.

IMDb Rating: 6.6 / 10

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0382932/

My Comment:
What I like about this movie is that it's not limited only for children. This movie can also be enjoyed by adults too, even at a point I feel this movie is not meant for children. Even though it's fiction and is not making any sense, this movie looked like real and delivered it with details. In my opinion, this movie is one of the top ranks animation movie. I'm just a little bit disappointed that this movie was not that humorous. Overall, Great!

Tarzan (1999)

>> Wednesday, April 13, 2011

Plot:
A man raised by gorillas must decide where he really belongs when he discovers he is a human.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120855/

My Comment:
Among Disney's movies, Tarzan is the ordinary one. Compared to "once upon a time" and "happily ever after" stories, this movie didn't stand out. It's average, however, I have to give a standing ovation to the soundtrack. Despite the average movie, the soundtrack is the most dazzling one especially for Phil Collin's song and the sensational music arranger Mark Mancina who also arranged the music for August Rush.

The Little Mermaid (1989)

Plot:
A mermaid princess makes a faustian bargain with an unscrupulous seahag in order to meet a human prince on land.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0097757/

My Comment:
There's no other motion pictures that can beat disney's original soundtrack. Alan Menken did a tremendous job on making this movie succeeded for grabbing oscars. Under The Sea song is definitely known throughout the world. But the story was just an ordinary classic to be told. There was a prince and a princess, they met, the next day they got married and they live happily ever after. Very classic. However, I give this movie two thumbs up for the incredible original soundtrack.

Plot:
A classic Disney fairytale collides with modern-day New York City in a story about a fairytale princess who is sent to our world by an evil queen. Soon after her arrival, Princess Giselle begins to change her views on life and love after meeting a handsome lawyer. Can a storybook view of romance survive in the real world?
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0461770/

My Comment:
I've seen this movie twice, and I am still excited to watch it. It's exciting to know the idea to collaborate magical fairy tales to a real life situation. And I'm satisfied. Like usual, Patrick Dempsey is a hot dude, and he really looked very young in this movie. Just like other disney's movies, it also delivered nice arranged soundtracks by Alan Menken. Moreover, Amy Adams and James Marsden could sing brilliantly. Recommended.

Anastasia (1997)

Plot:
The only surviving child of the Russian Royal Family hooks up with two con men while the undead Rasputin seeks her death.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0118617/

My Comment:
It's my most favorite animation for all time. The plot was "every-girl-wants-to-be-a-princess"-Ly great. Meg Ryan and John Cusack are enchanting, perfect voices for Anastasia and Dimitri. It's wonderful to watch this classic movie over and over again, love the soundtracks. Perfect. I give 9 for the soundtracks. However, whenever I see a good appealing movie, i kinda feel sad at the end, even though the movie has a happy ending. Maybe because I don't want this movie to ever end.

Plot:
An update of the original film with new interpretations of great works of classical music.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120910/

My Comment:
I thought that this movie was the continuity of the previous Fantasia in 1940. I was a little disappointed when I knew that some of the masterpiece was in the 1940's movie too like Mickey "The Sorcerer's Apprentice". On the other hand I always like The Blue Rhapsody from Gerschwin. Overall, it was pretty good, but it was really short...

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0398286/

My Comment:
What I like about disney movies is the animals. They play big roles in it. But for the plot, I felt that the movie's plot was too fast, even though I felt like watching for hours. I must admit that the story was unique and modernized, but it's not classic. Disney is famous for its classic cartoon charms and will be remembered by us adults, such as Mulan. However, I give two thumbs up for the soundtrack (I love Alan Menken) and Zachary Levi, I'm such a fan.

Plot:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1323594/

My Comment:
Hmmm, it's not very good actually. It's boring and it's not very exciting. I prefer Megamind as a villain than this. This movie failed to provide humor to the audience. And most of all, I don't think that this movie is appropriate for children. However, this movie had a nice touch at the end.

My Comment:
I must say that this movie is one of 2010's movies must watch. It's really funny and creative. This movie showed us the other side of a villain. A melancholic villain. Idiot but Genius. And finally, the hero gets the girl. One more thing, I am amazed by the "forget-me stick"..

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0485601/

My Comment:
Unpredictable good! I didn't expect that it would be this good. I really like the interpretation of the story. The arts, the musics. They were all matched and it's hard to explain because it was too artistic! The musics were great. I could feel that the music represented all kind of human. I even heard Mexican, Chinese, and Korean musics. Nice touch! I gave this movie 2 thumbs up!

Kâdokaputâ Sakura: Fûin sareta kâdo (Cardcaptor Sakura: The Sealed Card) (2000)

>> Monday, November 1, 2010

Plot:
All the cards have been captured and transformed, with Sakura and friends settling back into their normal lives. Unfortunately, Syaoran has returned home to Hong Kong without Sakura ever confessing how she felt about him. She gets another chance when he returns to Japan on vacation, but their reunion is interrupted by the reappearance of the Hope Card. Created by Clow Reed long ago to provide a balance to the energy of the other Clow Cards, it is more powerful than anything the Card Captor has ever faced. To capture it, Sakura may have to give up her most precious feeling.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0301083/

My Comment:
I think the first movie of cardcaptor sakura is better. It's weird, everybody that she loved was gone, but she acted like it was just a slight emotion. She only cared about her feeling about love. Well, maybe that's what you get if you have an elementary student hero to save your city. Ahahaha, at least it turned out well.

Plot:
Sakura and her friends have just finished the fourth grade, and are enjoying a well-deserved break from both school and cardcaptoring. While shopping at a local store, Sakura is fortunate enough to win a free trip to Hong Kong. Once there she is reunited with her rival and friend Syaoran Li, soon discovering that her good fortune is actually the work of a powerful sorceress with a grudge against Clow Reed, the long-dead creator of the Clow Cards.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0301082/

My Comment:
I'm not a fan of this anime, however the movie was pretty good. It was kinda freakin' me out when Sakura went into another world. For kids, it's pretty scary, for adults, it was so so. It was just like a light snack, and you don't feel guilty about it. I don't know if it's only me, i think that the story was similar like Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secret. You put your memory on a book. Overall, it was just okay.

Plot:
An urbane fox cannot resist returning to his farm raiding ways and then must help his community survive the farmers' retaliation.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0432283/

My Comment:
What was that? That was the most boring cartoon I've ever watched. It's stiff and inflexible cartoon. And I think it's not the right story to turn it into a movie. Roald Dahl was a genious! I love all his stories, Matilda, Charlie and The Chocolate Factory, but this movie was so unimaginative unlike Charlie and Matilda. They just picked the wrong ones. However, the dubbers were great, they're good actors and dubbers.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0435761/

My Comment:
At first I though that this movie would not be as good as its first and second movie. It turned out, it's the best one from toy story's previous movies. Andy's getting bigger, so was his toys. Andy had to go, the toys had too. And I became a crybaby at the end. Nonstop crying. It's the best end movie for the trilogy, no doubt, that this movie would be nominated and win some oscars next year... You really have to watch this trilogy movie!

No doubt that the second movie of toy story was great and really cool. I love Buzz and Woody's friendship. What I like about this movie is the big moral message in it. We have to trust in friendships. Just like Randy Newman's song, You've Got a Friend In Me. You gotta watch this second movie, don't forget to watch the first one

This is the coolest cartoon I've ever watched. Though it would be very scary if i had talking toys.
