The Last King of Scotland (2006)

>> Friday, April 8, 2011

Plot:
Based on the events of the brutal Ugandan dictator Idi Amin's regime as seen by his personal physician during the 1970s
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0455590/

My Comment:
Forest Whitaker is brilliant. I had goosebumps watching him played Idi Amin. It felt so real. It was joyous at the beginning, Idi Amin became a promise for the new Uganda. The story was wider when Dr. Garrigan involved too deep to the government. This movie delivered the half fiction movie became almost like real. Because some of the events were real however it was twisted a bit. In addition, this movie succeeded made an ambiance of thrill living in a militant country. I was so scared of what would happen next, so that I closed my eyes, wishing this movie would end soon.

Atonement (2007)

>> Tuesday, April 5, 2011

Plot:
Fledgling writer Briony Tallis, as a 13-year-old, irrevocably changes the course of several lives when she accuses her older sister's lover of a crime he did not commit. Based on the British romance novel by Ian McEwan.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0783233/

My Comment:
I hesitated watching this movie, because I knew that I would shed a tear. But, I must say, this movie was incredibly good. With the World War 2 background, it turned to be more dramatic. Spoiler Alert! I was relieved that Robbie and Cecilia both died, then they wouldn't feel hurt for losing. And the only redemption that Briony could do was writing about her mistakes. Keira and James played wonderfully, I wish that they could be together in real life. I think that this movie has a brilliant script, it's beautiful. In addition, the original score was fantastic.

The Last Station (2009)

>> Tuesday, July 27, 2010

Plot:
A historical drama that illustrates Russian author Leo Tolstoy's struggle to balance fame and wealth with his commitment to a life devoid of material things.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0824758/

My Comment:
It was a wonderful story. It's really difficult to choose between love and what we do especially related to mankind's benefits. I admit that Sofya and Leo's love was great and they had to struggle because of it. The fiction story was unique, James McAvoy was hot and extremely good looking. His act was superb, different from his act on atonement or the chronicles of narnia, which was really good that he could differentiate his character. This movie was a great piece

My Rating : 8 / 10
