The Company Men (2010)

>> Thursday, April 7, 2011

Plot:
The story centers on a year in the life of three men trying to survive a round of corporate downsizing at a major company - and how that affects them, their families, and their communities.

My Comment:
The economic recession affected labors incredibly in USA. A settled position wouldn't guarantee a save job. This movie delivered the recession in detail. Almost everyone depended on on-going wage and credit cards. No wage, you can't pay the credit. Even your lifestyle become poorer, Ben Affleck played his character wonderfully. However, I was not really attracted to it, kind of stagnant, I almost got asleep in the middle. Moreover, the plot was not too good.

My Comment:
I must admire Ben Affleck. He's not only a good actor but also a great director. 2 hours movie felt short, and I think it's brilliant. A little bit reminds me of Public Enemies. However, my big appreciation doesn't go to Ben, but to Jeremy Renner. No doubt that his acts are extremely good. I've fallen in love with his acting since The Hurt Locker. Nice flick!

Great Expectations (1998)

>> Thursday, October 14, 2010

Plot:
Modernization of Charles Dickens classic story finds the hapless Finn as a painter in New York pursuing his unrequited and haughty childhood love.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0119223/

My Comment:
It's greater than my Great Expectation! What can I say, it's really good! The story was exciting, about a man who has been changed by a mysterious benefactor. And it's enchanting like "a dream come true" story. It's a bit weird at the beginning, the love between kids, and i find it confusing. Most of the scenes, I find it confusing. But i must add, this movie was really special because Robert De Niro appearances. It felt very special in every Robert De Niro's scenes. Happy, funny, sad. That's what a good actor can make in every single scene. I have this thought that the original Charles Dicken story must be better than the movie. Better hurry find the book....

IMDb Rating : 6.6 / 10
My Rating : 8 / 10

Awards:

Golden Trailer Awards
Best Romance (Craig Murray Productions).
